"There were no serious injuries or long stoppages so I thought four minutes a bit much.
"I do not know what more my team could have done.
"They gave everything to the end - even in the face of some strange refereeing decisions.
"But in the end the pressure told.
"Southampton are a very good side and we were not expecting this to be an easy game.
"We gave the ball away too cheaply in the first half, but overall I was pleased with our performance.
"I think many of our fans were surprised when Kevin Phillips did not come out for the start of the second half.
"But Kevin was feeling it physically at half time, that is why we decided to take him off.
"We wanted to give him a break and I am sure he will appreciate it.
"I am disappointed by the result, but the way we played has given me heart and the lads battled with application and enthusiasm."
Unfortunately we just can’t afford anymore bad luck and its reached the stage where Wilko and the lads will have to dig in and fight for everything.
The only positive to come out of the last couple of days is that Fulham are rapidly heading for the bottom, so maybe we’re looking at three from five.
