Varga on trial at Celtic

The Scottish champions have taken the Slovakian defender, who was released by Sunderland last week, on trial along with Croatian international midfielder Rapaic.

"Both players have plenty of experience and a great pedigree. Varga hasn't had the happiest of times at Sunderland recently, but when he first arrived there he looked like a really good player," said the Celtic boss

"Neither player is eligible for the UEFA Cup, but that aside, we have plenty going on domestically.

"Both players will train with us for the rest of this week and then we hopefully take things from there."
