Sunderland boss David Moyes has released more information on Patrick Van Aanholt being withdrawn so late from the Spurs fixture.
Sunderland football club withdrew the Dutchman upon advice from the Football Association, because of the results of a cardiology scan the player had.
These types of scans are standard for all footballers at all clubs, clearly the scan had showed something out of the ordinary.
Sunderland didn’t receive the results until 3.55pm with the game due to kick off at 4.30, in which the FA had advised Sunderland to with draw the player.
It’s a no brainer that a player would be withdrawn when a risk to his personal health and safety, the only concern was the lateness of the results and advice feed to the club from the FA.
The good news is that Van Aanholt has now been for further scans, having now been cleared to join the team in London for the QPR game, the decision in now in the hands for Moyes for him to take part.
