The Sunderland Prophet - Sunderland AFC V West Ham United

West Ham United
The mighty Sunderland has risen from ashes once more! I can't help but feel confident in every game we play. We have multiple injuries to key players, but the results still keep coming in. There are certain teams I like seeing Sunderland beat and West Ham are a team I like see Sunderland thump. With Sunderland's ability to keep goals out and West Ham's inability keep goals out, I can only see this resulting in a home win.

Sunderland can go top of the league this weekend and if we do, the strength, depth, confidence and quality of the squad should enable us to stay there...I hope.

No changes at the back again, as all first choice defenders should be fit and available. Carl Robinson will not be fit in time to play West Ham, so Darren Carter should keep his place. Jeff Whitley should return in place of Dean Whitehead, who could drop to the bench. With Julio Arca suspended, Andy Welsh may get his debut, although Dean Whitehead may start on the left wing instead.  Liam Lawrence will keep his place on the right flank, with this game coming just too soon for Piper, although there is a chance he could make the bench.  Stewart has now gone 10 games without a goal, which I believe will open the door for Michael Bridges to start up front along side Stephen Elliott. Mhyre will again keep his place because of Mart Poom's extended injury.

Starting Eleven: Mhyre, Wright, Breen, Caldwell, McCartney, Lawrence, Whitley, Carter, Whitehead, Bridges and Elliott.

Subs: Alnwick, Collins (N), Lynch, Brown and Stewart.

Score: SUNDERLAND AFC 2 WESTHAM UNITED 1.

Scorers: BRIDGES AND ELLIOTT.
