Sunderland on loan Centre Back big John Mensah has came a cropper again, taken off with a limp during Sunderland woeful defeat against West Brom this weekend after being on the pitch for around ten minutes.
Mensah being on his second stint at Sunderland as Steve Bruce couldn’t make his mind up last season to give the Ghanaian international a full contract. His present team French club Lyon and the Black cats came to an agreement for a further season loan deal, with the big man showing some great defending ability the amount of time he has spent in the physio’s room seriously out weights that.
He had a fantastic time in the World Cup finals with displays of true pedigree talent for Ghana, managing to complete the campaign injury free.
But this new injury has put serious doubt over a possible offer of a permanent deal from Sunderland and Steve Bruce which is a shame as he seemed to be doing well on a 7 game roll. Specialists have examined Mensah and the club have revealed that he has suffered a grade 2 groin tear, which means he is looking to be out for at least 3 weeks. This adds to Sunderland’s nightmare as the run of poor form with the amount of injured players, players who are key to Sunderland’s chances of progressing in the premiership.
