Sturrock chases Sunderland defender

Anderson, a summer signing from Aberdeen, hardly featured for The Black Cats before moving on to Plymouth Argyle on loan. He is due to return back to Wearside at the end of the season but The Pilgrims boss would like both Anderson, and fellow Scotsman Gary Teale to sign permanent deals at Home Park.

"I have spoken to both players and they have, understandably, left their options open," he said.

"I would imagine anyone in their position would do the same."
