"It's a team game but last night the chances fell to me and for some unknown reason I just couldn't put them away," Kyle told the clubs official website, www.safc.com
"I had a couple of good headers and the Rotherham goalkeeper made some great saves but I should have done better with the one-on-one I had in the second half.
"I'm a striker in the first team at Sunderland and so I should be putting those away.
"The fans can blame me, the manager can blame me and my team-mates can blame me for this one because I should have scored but I'm not going to dwell on it because otherwise my confidence will dip.
"We have a game at Norwich on Saturday and hopefully I will be able to make up for last night's performance by getting a goal there."
