Former Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse made an emotional announcement on live TV calling it today on his playing career.
The 34 year old has been plagued with some horrendous injuries, which included twice snapping his shin bone in half.
Having represented his country of France 41 times, and also being a part of the Liverpool side that won the Champions League in 2005.
Playing for Sunderland in the 2008-09 season under Roy Keane’s rule, he scored 11 goals for the Black Cats. Scoring in both Tyne and Wear derby’s, during his loan deal from Marseille which instantly made him a fan favourite.
The Frenchman was moved to tears when one of his former coaches Guy Roux paid tribute to him, after he made his announcement.
