"Matt has a sore groin and is having that taken care of," McCarthy told the clubs official website.
"I have spoken to people at Leicester about Matt and they rate him very highly. He's got pace and can get crosses in and he's someone I would like to have back fit.
"But if he is not going to be right and is still suffering with his groin, I'd sooner he got the proper rest and treatment now so that he is 100 per cent right for pre-season. Then we won't get to November and he's got another problem."
