The official statement from the club read out by Niall Quinn, suggested that Roy felt that he had taken the club as far as he could and has decided to step aside and that it was time for someone else to take charge.
Niall now has the task of finding a new Manager, but in the mean time Ricky Sbragia will take temporary management assisted by Neil Bailey and Dwight Yorke.
