The former-Arsenal striker missed Sunderland's last game after sustaining a minor injury during mid-week training.
Keane said, "He has a while to recover and hopefully he will be available for our next game."
"I don't think it's serious, I hope not. But there was no way we were going to risk him [against Sheff Wed], we were always going to leave him out. With the other good strikers we have got at the club, there was no need to risk him."
