"The best way I can put it is there were a few knives being sharpened and they've just gone a bit blunt," Reid said.
"That's part and parcel of being a football manager. I feel all right. I feel a lot better than I did last week."
"I just hope that we can kick on from it now."
On the performance of the players he had slated after the derby game against Newcastle, Reid had praise in particular for Kevin Kilbane and the returning Jody Craddock.
"I'm really pleased for Bellion and for Kevin Kilbane," added Reid. "I thought Kevin was our best player.
"But I was especially pleased for Craddock. We all know what he's been through, and I thought he was fantastic. I can't speak highly enough of the man."
