Media reports had suggested that O'Leary could be made manager should the consortium led by his close friend Quinn succeed in taking over at The Stadium of Light.
“Niall Quinn has not rung me," O'Leary has said.
"Niall's a big friend of mine but I've not spoken to him since October.
“I have a job to do here. I know what needs to be done and hopefully I will be able to do it in the summer.
"I've planned pre-season and I hope I can make the changes I want.
"I know I will be here and I'm proud to be the manager of the only Midlands representatives in the Premiership.”
