Sunderland have announced that club captain John O’Shea has signed a one-year deal to stay on Wearside.
The hugely experienced defender, spent the peak of his career winning five titles with Manchester United before moving to Sunderland in 2011.
O’Shea is currently Sunderland’s top appearance maker, who will re-join the Sunderland team once he returns from international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
It seems like a sensible move, Sunderland will be looking to bring many of the youth players through into the first team after being relegated. O’Shea will be an outstanding role model with a unbelievable amount of knowledge playing at the very top level for a lengthy time.
