However, Wilkinson has been assured that he will be fit for the Black Cats trip to Upton Park at the weekend.
Norway's team doctor Lars Engebretsen told Norwegian daily Verdens Gang: "Thomas was able to stand on the leg and had a really good work-out, but he's still not able to run at full speed. Therefore there was no sense in testing the leg on the field.
"He can almost certainly play again in a few days."
Sunderland have already lost Thomas Sorensen until the New Year with a dislocated elbow and Myhre has been ruled out of Norway's qualifying clash with Bosnia on Wednesday, but Wilkinson will be relieved to hear the news that he'll be ok in a few days time.
