"People will think it was an outstanding Crewe performance where they battered us off the park but they didn't," he said after the defeat at Gresty Road.
"We could have been 3-0 up in the first half but we didn't score when we played well and they did.
"Their forwards were better than ours and I said to the players 'there's no point creating all those chances if you're not going to take them'."
