McCarthy pleased with performance

Defeat at Birmingham next week would mean definate Nationwide football at the Stadium of Light next season but McCarthy hailed the team's battling performance.
 
"I thought it was a terrific performance and it has given me something to work on," he said.

"We did not deserve to be beaten and it has taken a quality goal.
