Lens' future it up to him.

Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens has to make a decision upon his future on Wearside.

The Dutch International signed for Sunderland in the summer, under much promise but has failed to live up to his full potential.   Then in December the winger had a training ground bust up with new boss Sam Allardyce, which resulted in Lens getting a club fine.

Although the player did have to go through a hernia operation, which side-lined him for a few weeks.  Now the season is over and Sunderland gained Premier League security for another season, the time is now on rebuilding the side.

Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce said, “It depends what Lens wants to do stay and fight or move on.

“He’ll decide that when we have a conversation.”

“He has had a cultural shock on the levels of performance required. Not talent-wise because we know he has the talent.

“It’s the physical side of this league which causes lots of players very big problems in the first year.

“So next season, next year, will be his big telling point if he can produce what he has abroad. He knows what’s coming.”
