After what seemed to be a sure thing, Sunderland winger Will Buckley’s move to Leeds United this evening looks more likely to be off.
Sunderland and Leeds had agreed a fee for the ex-Brighton player, but Leeds tonight have now agreed a deal with Brentford winger Stuart Dallas. It seems that yet again Premier league wages got in the way with a move to the Championship, as Leeds and Buckley not being able to settle on his wages.
Leeds United’s boss refused to get dragged in to making comments on the all but lost deal, saying that he wouldn’t talk about another team’s player.
This could open the door to Sheffield Wednesday, who have also show an interest after Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat signalled that Buckley had no future on Wearside. Although on outlook of a possible deal with Wednesday, wages could also be a problem.
