Paolo Di Canio: “It’s a positive thing for Giaccherini to have come here.
“Positive for him and positive for us.
“And I think it is good advice that he has received from Prandelli because he will get a platform here to play in the best league in the world.
"He can develop his football at Sunderland, and we will help him work hard to be the best player he can be.
“He’s not 100 per cent fit yet.
“ He’s maybe a little more than 65 per cent of what he can be, but that will come.
“And when he does get fully fit he will be very important for us, and I think he will enjoy playing in our side in this league.
“It is a chance for him to shine, and that will certainly help him when it comes to international recognition.”
