Flo can fill Quinn role

Both Flo and strike partner Kevin Phillips scored for Sunderland in the 2-0 win over Spurs at The Stadium of Light on Sunday - the same day that Quinn officially announced his retirement from the game because of a back problem.

Norway international Flo said: "Everyone knows how well Kevin and Niall did at Sunderland, and I'm hoping we can be a success.

"People were very, very happy that Kevin got his goal against Spurs. He's been injured a lot and he's come back and scored - and we all know he's such a great player.

"He does it in training every day and finally now he has done it in a match this season, and I expect more.

"He's good to play alongside," Flo told the clubs official website.

"I hope we can keep on scoring goals. It went well against Spurs, and I'm pretty sure we can build on it," he added.

Phillips also believes that he and Flo could form the same understanding he had with Quinn.

He said: "I think there have been signs that Tore and I could have the same kind of relationship as Niall and I did.

"Only time will tell. But if we carry on like we played against Tottenham I'm sure we will."
