Stephen Elliott has successfully came through his first full international game with flying colours.

Elliott made two cracking passes to set Keane away, but unlike Elliott, seemed to be caught off side so many times.

It was a tough debut for the 20 yr old striker, with difficult weather contidtions and playing most of his football on the right wing, being more of a provider than a goal scorer.

It would have been interesting to see how Elliott would have played if he were in Keanes role, as he was caught of side time and time again, something Elliott has mastered on Wearside.

Stephen impressed Nial Quinn, pundits, manager and supporters in his first cap and the young forward looks set to have a bright future. Could Elliott be next Kevin Phillips? Brian Kerr had this to say.

"Elliott adapted to it really well, particularly because he was not playing in his natural up-front position."

"He used the ball well, made some very perceptive passes - and in the second half I thought he looked a real threat. His control, passing and ability to use his body was very satisfactory for a 20-year-old."
