Sunderland AFC are reported to have turned down the chance of signing Ghanaian defender John “the rock of Gibraltar” Mensah from French club Lyon.
Mensah has spent the last two seasons on loan on Wearside now looks to have kicked his final ball for Sunderland, in his last game against Fulham. Throwing a massive strop after being subbed off, Mensah stormed straight down the tunnel, it was then rumoured that he had a dressing room bust up with Nedum Onuoha. When fit the defender has been fantastic but the injuries that he has suffered over the past two seasons had put huge doubt of the players future on Wearside.
Signing the player would of cost the Black Cats somewhere in the region of 5 million, money that can be spent on a player that could play more games that time in the physio’s room.
Newspaper and internet site are now saying Glasgow Rangers are showing interest in the defender.
