Ex-Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse is ready to walk away from Champions League side Panathinaikos and Greek football all together.
The Frenchman, who joined the Greek giants after failing to secure a permanent deal on wearside, has been scoring goals for fun in the Super League with 41 goals in 48 games. After recently expressed his desire to leave the club in the summer after their lack of ambition in the Champions league, this is now been made worse by Greek football fans.
Panathinaikos took on Greece’s other giant football club Olympiakos recently only for the striker to be physically attacked after Thrylos fans ran on the pitch once the final whistle was blow.
He has also been the target of several racist chants, Cisse said, 'This season the atmosphere in the stands has got worse. Twice already, I have been the victim of monkey chants, of racist insults.'
'They managed to get inflatable bananas (into the stadium) that they were shaking around every time I touched the ball.
'This summer I’m leaving, that’s for sure. It’s impossible for me here. Even though the Pana fans are fantastic, even though the club is great, I don’t want to play in this league anymore.'
'I was their target. Some of them hit me and I retaliated to defend myself. It’s a disgrace. I’m not going to let things lie. This week, I will make a complaint to UEFA and I can tell you I won’t drop it.'
It is said that Cisse has instructed his agent to study his current contract in a hope to find a loop hole in the agreement in which he could leave earlier than the summer transfer window.
After speaking out about his nightmare time several teams have been linked in a move for the striker, including Sunderland and Newcastle as he will be available for free.
