Prica signed from Danish outfit Aalborg in January, but despite being top-scorer in the Danish top flight, and scoring on his Sunderland debut, he is yet to start a game for Roy Keane's side.
"It doesn't get better than scoring in your first game for a new club. But in the next game against Liverpool I wasn't at my best and I have been in and out of the team since then.
"I know I can do a lot better. The European Championships are on this summer and I want to be there.
"For that, you need to play games and so that makes me all the more determined to break into the Sunderland side.
"Sweden have a friendly later this month against Brazil in London and hopefully I will be in the squad for that."
Prica, 27, admits that football in the Danish leagues is inferior to that of the Premier League but is convinced he can adapt his game to suit football in England.
"I have high expectations of myself but it's a big step for me to come into the Premier League," he said.
"I used to win all my duels in Denmark but here the defenders are much stronger, it's a big difference.
"The defenders in England are a little bit bigger and I think that means that a striker like me has to think differently. But I think the English style will be good for me, it just takes time to adapt.
"When I joined Sunderland I wasn't fully match-fit because we had just had a month-long winter break in Denmark. It takes a while to build that fitness back up but it is coming now and I'm looking forward to trying to get into the first team and hopefully get some more goals."
