Reports out of Portugal are that Sporting Clube de Portugal have exercised a clause in Sunderland’s Sebastian Coates loan contract, which will see him remain in Portugal another season.
There is also an option for Sporting to sign the player out right for £5million, which also remains a possibility but is unlikely.
Coates has played 12 times in Primeira Liga, finding hero status with Sporting’s fans, which is a far cry from his inconsistent performances on Wearside.
