Britain’s most expensive goalkeeper Craig Gordon has spoke out about his unknown future, as with Scotland’s number one was heavy linked with a move to Celtic.
The big Scots days looked numbered on Wearside as Sunderland landed promising keeper Keiren Westwood in the summer as well as having Belgium international Simon Mignolet already on the books. Last season Gordon had been heavily sidelined due to many injury problems, Mignolet playing most of the season between the sticks and doing a fine job.
Celtic have now signed Newcastle’s Fraser Forster making any deal for Gordon pretty much dead, even before Forster’s moved Celtic’s boss Neil Lennon commented on Gordon’s price tag being a stumbling block.
Gordon said, "I hadn't been contacted personally. Whether there were discussions or not, it never got as far as anybody talking about it to me.
"There were a few clubs linked but I've not spoken to Sunderland about my future so I don't really know where I stand.
"That's fine by me at the moment. I just want to get myself fit and then I can think about that afterwards."
