Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp kicked off after he believed Sunderland’s Jermaine Lens should have been sent off for a tackle on Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho.
Sam and Klopp along with the rest of the back room staff, exchanged words on the sideline which ended in the police stepping to break up the groups.
Dutch international Lens received a yellow card for the tackle but the Liverpool boss thought it should have been a red.
Klopp claimed "Of course. This is a foul. That is not allowed. For me that is a red card, finished"
But big Sam responded with "He’s a soft German if that’s a red card. It’s a yellow, a foul.
"There was some foul and abusive language towards my staff that I didn’t like. After the end, it was alright though, because we all shook hands and got on with it, which is what you’ve got to do."
