Ball: We Deserved A Draw

Tommy Miller had given Sunderlnd a shock lead twenty minutes from time at Fratton Park but Svetoslav Todorov equalised for the home side five minutes later and then after a ridiculous handball by Kevin Kyle on 88 minutes Pompey defender Matthew Taylor scored a dramatic last-gasp penalty winner.

"I have spoken to Kevin and asked him what happened. He said it was a reaction but that reaction has cost us something from the game," Ball said after the match.

"I remember doing the same thing when I played for Portsmouth and my coach at the time, Frank Burrows, said I would learn from it.

"I said the same thing to Kevin Kyle and I think he will learn from it, but it was a bad mistake.

"I was desperate to win today against my old club and thought we did enough to get at least a draw.

"We had the chances to have won it, so we feel more than a little disappointed to come away with nothing."
