And another long term injury!

Just as Sunderland look to be having a change in fortune with 3 wins from their last 4 games, lifting them off the bottom.

The Black Cats have been hit with yet another serious injury, home grow product Duncan Watmore having to be stretched off on Saturday.  The 22 year old was carried on the field at the Stadium of Light in the last 10 minutes of the game and looked in some discomfort.  Colliding with Leicester City’s defender Christian Fuchs, as Sunderland won 2-1.

Scans have now shown Watmore has damaged his cruciate knee ligaments, and will be likely to miss the rest of the current season.

This goes along with two other young Sunderland stars, American International Lynden Gooch with damaged ankle ligaments (but doesn’t require an op).  Paddy McNair has also ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, and is another who the black cats have lost for the season.

Although Manchester United loanee Adnan Januzaj could benefit from Watmore’s injury and gain a second chance to impress Sunderland boss David Moyes.
