In Sunderland’s bid to clear the decks of the unwanted players, it looked that defender Santiago Vergini was off to South America.  But that move to Boca Juniors has hit a wall, after the player flagged up concerns during a medical.

The deal looked done, but since the 27 year old completed a medical Boca Juniors since have had second thoughts. It’s not been revealed what exactly was shown up in the procedure but its know from his time on Wearside of having ankle issues.

SAFC are asking 1.5 million for Vergini, but may end up letting him go for a lot less if the medical concerns go on.
